Small Business Monday Feature | Ryan and Wren

As soon as I heard from one of my clients that her daughter was wearing a RYAN & WREN¬†Hair Bow I just had to find out more about this amazing company! So this made me want to start putting together some small business features on my blog. Since I love everything about small business’s and I truly want to show my support in who they are and share with you all…all the amazing shops out there!

I asked Mary a few questions so that you all would be able to get to know this super generous women and see the beauty in her business.

Tell me a little bit about yourself, who you are, what your company is:

I’m Mary, owner and creator over at RYAN & WREN. I’m a stay at home momma to my three sweet babes (Molly Ryan, 6, Lucy Wren, 4, and Jude Maverick, 19 months) and wife to my high school sweetheart. My goal is to create simple, modern, and well-made hair accessories that become your favorite pieces.

What happened in your life that helped your decision to actually create a small business?

I opened my Etsy shop a little less than two years ago, naming it after my daughters who were my first customers and fans. It was difficult to find hair accessories that I was excited to buy for my girls so I started making them myself. I was buying supplies from many etsy sellers and decided to open my own etsy shop. RYAN & WREN was created with the hope that other people would share my aesthetic and want similar hair accessories for themselves and their children.

Where do you find inspiration:

I love creating hair accessories to coordinate with my daughters’ outfits. I am drawn to black and white, metallics, and modern patterns. The majority of my pieces are basics that can go from every day to special occasion. I love creating pieces that are uniquely mine.

What is your favorite part about your small business? What is the most exciting part about what you do?

I love the flexibility that owning my own shop provides. It allows me a creative outlet that I can work around my family’s schedule. The creative process is one of my favorite parts of owning my own shop, but it’s also the most time consuming. My main focus is being at home and caring for my family. I have more ideas in my head than I have time to explore. Instead, I keep my designs streamlined and focus on the craftsmanship of each piece.
I am grateful for the steady growth my business has made, and for everyone that has followed along with me on this journey. Seeing my carefully constructed pieces on my customers is an amazing feeling. I love being a small part of people’s special memories.
