EEEEKKKK Christmas Eve is tomorrow and I absolutely can not wait! I get so giddy during the Holidays and even more so now that I have kids of my own. I feel like all the Holidays are now even better because of our kids. Seeing the excitement and joy on their faces is so fun!

This year Kiira Turnbow from Eye Heart Pretty Things collaborated on our Fall Mini Sessions. It turned out so well and are very grateful for the families that came out to get their photos taken with all the beautiful vintage finds.

I mean this guy knows how to work the charm. He was just way to cute.

Whenever I receive a review I feel so blessed. I love photographing families, it is a time in your lives when you have kids that definitely needs to be captured.  Thank you so much Daniella for your kind words. I just loved meeting you and your family!

Amy is fantastic!!! After searching for weeks for a photographer to take our family Christmas Card photos I stumbled upon Amy’s website. I emailed her and she responded quickly letting me know there were some “mini” session coming up in a few weeks. It was EXACTLY what we were looking for. I know photo shoots with a toddler aren’t easy – so I figured we had a 30min window of time – just the time of the session! It was perfect. She even had the shoot styled, which provided our little guy with endless props to explore and hold. I think that was the key to our shoot being successful – he warmed up right away and wasn’t shy or cranky. I was pretty shocked, and SO happy it was such an easy and simple experience. We’ll be using Amy in the future for our photos

:)

When Roxanne contacted me to photographer her soon to be born son I was just delighted. I have never met them until the session and Roxanne and Alex are some of the sweetest most kind people. It truly was a blessing to photograph their son Abram. He was just a few days old and I couldn’t get enough snuggles in myself. I sincerely miss the newborn stage the limp bodies when they fall asleep the baby smell. I’m just a sap for newborns what can I say.

:)

Thank you Roxanne and Alex for inviting me in your beautiful home to capture this moment with your baby Abram. He is just the sweetest!

Are you all ready for Christmas yet?!? I can’t believe that it is already here! So much to do so little time. Here is another super fun hair accessories shop through Etsy really there are just to many good ones. I can’t help but now share with you all the fun accessories that you can get for your little girl! All of Charlie and Coco’s accessories come a hair clip or you can choose a headband for your little newborn. She has so many fun designs and they are truly so well made! We just love them!

Tell me a little bit about yourself, who you are, what your company is:

Hey! I’m Amber, the owner/designer at Charlie Coco’s, an accessory shop for little ladies. I’m from Indiana, where I live with my husband, Brett (high school sweetheart) and our new little pup Sonny (my early Christmas present).

Growing up I always knew I wanted to own my own business, be my own boss… “be the boss” ( that’s probably the big sister in me, being the oldest of 4 kids). It’s a one woman show behind the scenes of Charlie Coco’s and although it can be a lot at times, I wouldn’t have it any other way

What happened in your life that helped your decision to actually create a small business?

I went shopping for a hair accessory for my niece, I thought it would be a simple trip, in and out. Once I got to the store, I realized that there actually wasn’t much to choose from (unless I was looking for a big fake flower with a rhinestone in the center, blah). I left thinking that I’d be better off trying to make something myself…which is what I went home and did. I absolutely fell in love with making these little accessories.

Eventually, I started bringing my designs into work. I was teaching pre-school at the time and wanted to see what the mom’s thought, get their opinions. That’s when someone told me I should sell my things on Etsy…so I decided to check it out. I ultimately ended up turning a hobby that I loved into my full time job. It was scary at first, but I truly believe that if you are doing something you love you can’t go wrong.

Where do you find inspiration:

I find inspiration everywhere…I love finding new fabric and materials to use as a starting point. I’m also always checking out what’s new with children’s fashion, what colors are going to be popular. I’m always on the look out for unique materials that I can incorporate into my designs.

What is your favorite part about your small business? What is the most exciting part about what you do?

It always feels great when I introduce a new item and it’s a hit, it tells me I’m going in the right direction. But, the BEST part of owning this business of mine is receiving emails, or getting tagged with customers pictures of their little ones sporting their new accessories. I don’t have any little ones of my own just yet, so seeing them in action, being worn is truly special. It always brightens my day!

Woke up this morning to a wonderful surprise to see the baby shower that my good friend Kiira from Eye Heart Pretty Things and I threw for our good friend Heather. It was such a fun diy baby shower getting inspired by the beach colors from the sand, ocean to the sunset.

Please head on over to Inspired By This to read about all the details of all the DIYs that came together to make this striped diy baby shower happen. Also just have to say that string art is probably one of my favorite things to make. One day when we have a house of our own I am definitely making this happen!

When I was scrolling through Etsy and found Chicken & Charlie I just had to ask Irene if I could feature her amazing bandana bibs. Guys these bibs are so cute! The cowl scarves are pretty much to die for. I mean who doesn’t love a big fluffy scarf. This is definitely a winter staple in our closet.

Also make sure you head on over to her shop right now because she is having discount!!!!!

Tell me a little bit about yourself, who you are, what your company is:

I’m Irene of Chicken & Charlie. I’m a SAHM/WAHM to two lil boys, Leonard 4 and Luka 2. I worked for a number of years in the children’s fashion industry. I always said that once I had kids of my own I wanted to stay home with them until they were a little older and in grade school. As far as contributing to my family other then being a mom (which has a long list of responsibilities in itself) I figure if there is a will there is a way. We can do this.

So I’ve always had a thing for children’s market. Everything is just so fun and innocent small. Trying to keep in the swing of things and not deter too far away from the my background in the children’s industry, I started sewing accessories of my own. I’d been sewing since I was a kid, then I had a bad habit of sewing on the floor of my bedroom. I’ve now moved to the counter since then.

What happened in your life that helped your decision to actually create a small business?

Well I started selling my goodies online during maternity leave and the rest took off. I find that I am fortunate enough to stay home and do what I love, which is raise my lil boys and still have be able to do something that I enjoy which is to create. However finding the time isn’t always easy, usually its up into the wee hours of the night when everyone and asleep.

Where do you find inspiration:

I find inspiration all around me, and I don’t try to hard or do anything that isn’t me. My favorite of all is searching high and low for great prints and fabrics that aren’t your typical baby look, which is what makes up Chicken & Charlie, fun handmade items with a sense of edge for your lil rascals.

What is your favorite part about your small business? What is the most exciting part about what you do?
I find the most exciting thing to be is the challenge of creating something of your own and watching it grow and grow everyday. I have customers in countries I’ve never heard of and that what is so awesome about selling online on Etsy, is that what was a once small idea is now reaching people worldwide. In addition, I also sell wholesale across the states so now its bringing me full circle to what I once loved to do was work with fun and unique children’s boutiques across the US.
