As soon as I heard from one of my clients that her daughter was wearing a RYAN & WREN Hair Bow I just had to find out more about this amazing company! So this made me want to start putting together some small business features on my blog. Since I love everything about small business’s and I truly want to show my support in who they are and share with you all…all the amazing shops out there!

I asked Mary a few questions so that you all would be able to get to know this super generous women and see the beauty in her business.

Tell me a little bit about yourself, who you are, what your company is:

I’m Mary, owner and creator over at RYAN & WREN. I’m a stay at home momma to my three sweet babes (Molly Ryan, 6, Lucy Wren, 4, and Jude Maverick, 19 months) and wife to my high school sweetheart. My goal is to create simple, modern, and well-made hair accessories that become your favorite pieces.

What happened in your life that helped your decision to actually create a small business?

I opened my Etsy shop a little less than two years ago, naming it after my daughters who were my first customers and fans. It was difficult to find hair accessories that I was excited to buy for my girls so I started making them myself. I was buying supplies from many etsy sellers and decided to open my own etsy shop. RYAN & WREN was created with the hope that other people would share my aesthetic and want similar hair accessories for themselves and their children.

Where do you find inspiration:

I love creating hair accessories to coordinate with my daughters’ outfits. I am drawn to black and white, metallics, and modern patterns. The majority of my pieces are basics that can go from every day to special occasion. I love creating pieces that are uniquely mine.

What is your favorite part about your small business? What is the most exciting part about what you do?

I love the flexibility that owning my own shop provides. It allows me a creative outlet that I can work around my family’s schedule. The creative process is one of my favorite parts of owning my own shop, but it’s also the most time consuming. My main focus is being at home and caring for my family. I have more ideas in my head than I have time to explore. Instead, I keep my designs streamlined and focus on the craftsmanship of each piece.
I am grateful for the steady growth my business has made, and for everyone that has followed along with me on this journey. Seeing my carefully constructed pieces on my customers is an amazing feeling. I love being a small part of people’s special memories.

I can’t believe another 1 year session has come to a close. Photographing Cataleya as a newborn to now 1 years old is such a bittersweet moment. I so loved being there for Cheryl and Kirk to capture so many fun memories with their children. And now that it is over it makes me so sad. But I hope that one day soon I will be able to be there for them again.

We went to Polliwog Park in Manhattan beach for Cataleya’s last session. It was the perfect place to end the collection of photos as I had photographed her older brother in the same location:)

We also did a little cake smash in celebration for her 1st birthday. Loved watching Sebastian wanting to help his little sister and how excited he got for her.

Thank you Kirk, Cheryl, Sebastian and Cataleya for having me photograph your family this last year. I can’t wait to see how the kids keep on growing and to hear about all the fun things you are up to these days:)

I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is almost here. That means my sons 1st birthday which I still have yet to plan (poor guy, its tough to be the 2nd child). And lots of seeing friends and family for the holidays. All while (yes I’m crazy) trying to potty train my 2 year old. But even though it is so challenging it has been so nice to only have 1 in diapers for 2 days. haha I mean who knew it could be so nice. Having 2 kids in a row I just did know the luxury. I am just hoping and praying that she will finally get it and we can leave the house for more then a quick trip here and there. So my fingers are crossed and we are chugging a long with our days.

I was thinking of what photos to blog next and I really wanted to show you all the progressing of beautiful baby Huntleigh. Like I have said before Olivia booked my 1 year collection so I was able to capture her 1st year of life and it was such an amazing progression. So without further ado here is a few from her 3 month photo session.

If you would like to check out all her sessions from before please do:)

  • Jill Kolcz - Love Love Love these pics….OMG! the HAIR is to die for!! This little one is so adorable:)ReplyCancel

So now that I have a 2 year old I thought I would finally share Hayley’s 1st birthday party. It is long over due but it was just featured on Hostess with the Mostess and Kiira from Eye Heart Pretty Things couldn’t be more excited!

Kiira was a huge part of making this all come together. If you ever need any paperie done for your birthday, wedding, save the date, you have to contact her because she is absolutely the best at what she does. Or just need an event designer she is your go to girl! I can’t say enough about Kiira truly she is just that amazing!

We had so much fun putting everything together! From the geometric garland to painting the backdrop for the Photo Booth. One thing I do love about throwing these parties for my kids is the memories of hand making all the little details. I will never forget all the time and love that went into each project. Even though I am always rushing to put everything together and it only last for a few hours. It has been an unforgettable time in my life. Birthday parties have always been such a huge joy in my life. I want to keep that tradition going in my kids lives.

Head on over to Hostess with the Mostess HERE to see our feature and what I had to say about the party:)

While trying to keep the party a little budget friendly Kiira and I went to Lowes to collect tons of paint chips to make this geometric garland. We cut out all different shape and sizes, then I used my sewing machine to sew them together. It was pretty easy.

We also glued paint sticks together with wood glue then used different colored paints and masking tape to paint the triangles on the paint sticks. Kiira did this project. She is just way better at masking things off and painting then I am. Also Kiira designed the perfect geometric paper goods for Hayley’s party.

It was just yesterday when I remembered my water broke as soon as I was going to lay down to take a nap. But my little girl had other plans. She came 2 weeks early and was a feisty little girl as soon as she came out and still is. I love it though! We have been having so much fun lately with all her talking and singing songs all the time in the car.

Hayley girl I am so thankful that God chose me to be your mommy. You amaze me every day with your knowledge, humor and silliness. Your daddy and I love you SO MUCH! Can’t imagine our lives without you. You are such a joy. We can’t wait to see what God has for you in your life of being 2 years old. We are soaking up these times. May you always keep your amazing laughter for everything.:)Happy Birthday to my little 2 year old girl.

Thank you to Emily Young Photography for capturing this perfect photo of our girl. Her true happy place at the beach running through the water.
