Katie has been a family friend of ours since she was a little baby. Seeing her grow up into such an amazing women of God has been so fun! And when she announced that she was engaged to an equally amazing man I could not wait to meet Cooper. Cooper you are truly the perfect guy for Katie! I absolutely LOVE photographing their engagement photos right next to my parents house off of Palouse Hwy here in Spokane, WA. I mean this tree in the first photo I couldn’t get over how gorgeous it was!
I asked Katie to share their engagement story with you all….. Here is what she had to say!
The proposal was on May 3rd, it was my birthday actually. I had NO idea it was going to happen. As far as I knew we were going to have to wait another year to get married because of school and finances. But what I didn’t know was that after Cooper got his “big kid” job he started saving for a ring. We went to church that morning like we do every Sunday. He told me to pack some hiking clothes and didn’t tell me any details about what we were doing or where we were going. After church he surprised me and took me to get my nails done, He said I would never pay to get it done myself (which I wouldn’t, having horses destroys nails) so he wanted to treat me. After that we went to his house and we hung out, made taco salad and I actually fell asleep. He woke me up and told me it was time to go on our adventure. So I got my hiking clothes on and off we went. We ended up going to pine bluff trail head, near 9-mile to go on a hike. This was the same spot where him and I went hiking before we were even dating, we sat at the top of the ridge and read our bibles together. I didn’t think anything of it when we got there because we had gone hiking there since and it was a fun hike with a great view. When we started up the hill to the ridge, Cooper put his jacket on, which was odd because it was hot out. I asked him why he put it on before hiking up the hill and he simply said he might be getting a cold and got chilly. But he actually had the ring in the pocket of his jacket. We got to the top and I went to sit down at the bench we had always sat at, but he suggested that we go sit at a different bench further down the ridge. So we did and after sitting for a minute he said we should go look at some flowers to our left so we did. Then we walked back up to the bench and he faced me and grabbed my hands and started talking to me seriously about how he loved me so much and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and that he wanted that day to start today. Then he got down on a knee and asked me to marry him. I was in total shock and after I said “yes” he pointed to the bushes where one of our family friends Apollos was standing taking pictures. Then he said that my parents were around the corner and we could go say hi. My mom, dad, brother, our family friends and his family from North Bend were all there. Of coarse there were a lot of happy tears even though I’m not much of a crier. We proceeded to have toasts and take pictures on the ridge overlooking nine-mile. It could not have been any more perfect!
I loved how Katie had her hair done by the ever so talented : Katie Scheib
Katie had her horse Chai at the engagement session which just made it that even more special since he is such a big part of her life.
